Soak Up the Son...It's On You!

I lift up my eyes to the hills--where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.  ~Psalm 121:1

...but our eyes are upon you. ~2 Chronicles 20:12

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? ~Isaiah 40:26

If God's prescription for us is to, "Always be joyful and never stop praying. Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do" (1 Thessalonians 5:15-18) and to,  "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4), then why aren't we filing that prescription and taking our dosage daily?

I will tell you why,... because we are not making the choice to do so!

God has provided us with access to His Word and the perfect plan for our lives through the Bible...

He has provided us with the ultimate gift of salvation through the death and resurrection of His Son over 2000 years ago...

Our Father has provided us with a plethora of promises of peace, wholeness, provisions, strength, joy, healing, prosperity, restoration, and more for just for us...

He has made provisions for our daily help and direction through the Holy Spirit...

BUT somewhere in this equation, WE HAVE TO MAKE THE DECISION to get up, move a limb, and take a step forward in the direction of our own happiness and fulfilment.  God is able and willing to be right by our sides and infiltrate us with strength, but we have to FINALLY make the choice to be sick and tired of being sick and tired, and MAKE A CHOICE to take that first step of willingness to make a change and experience full joy!

One afternoon while walking my dog, Daisy, I found myself singing the 2002 Sheryl Crow (pop artist) song, Soak Up the Sun.  In recalling the tune and singing over the chorus, it hit me that we could very possibly be the one's to blame for our own spiritual and physical stagnation in life.  God can provide every good gift at our finger tips, but at some point, we have to be responsible to make the choice to reach out and receive it.  We must take the action to LOOK UP and SOAK up God's SON, and experience the peace, salvation, and freedom that He has waiting just for us.  We can pray and pray and pray...BUT we must couple that prayer with some action...a first step.

I'm gonna soak up the sun
Gonna tell everyone
To lighten up (I'm gonna tell 'em that)
I've got no one to blame
For every time I feel lame
I'm looking up, I'm gonna soak up the sun
I'm gonna soak up the sun

by Sheryl Crow

I guess it's time for us to stop blaming someone else...stop blaming our pasts...stop blaming situations that we had no control over!

But instead, we have the CHOICE to make the decision to LOOK UP TO THE SON and enjoy the power of His rays.  We have to LOOK UP instead of focusing on what's got us down.  We have to take responsibility for ourselves and make the first step out of our darkness and into His Light.  He will surely meet us there, and help us to make the rest of the journey ahead of us.

SOAK UP THE SON, today!
BE JOYFUL, PRAYERFUL, & THANKFUL!
REJOICE!
We DO play a part in our own happiness! Take that first step!
